Jeanne decided to have a short trip away from teaching so came to visit. Unfortunately, she had to drive in the blizzard Fri night. We went to the Eagles game Fri night and then packed it in on Sat (shopping @ Outlets, movie "Gran Torino (way too much name-calling) and the Tour of Luxury Homes (we loved it!). It was a great time!
We had box seats and it was so fun and it was FREE!

As I was driving in Denver today, George Karl was driving right next to me! I took a 2nd look to make sure and since we were moving at a crawl, I could see him clearly. I thought it was really cool! How often do you drive next to pro athletes/coaches/celebrities? He's a great coach, so, much respect!
I watched the press conferences today and cried when Mike Shanahan (not balling but you know...) spoke. The only other press conference that made me cry was John Elway's. This guy is a class act and I've always been afraid of what would happen if he ever left us.
Although it is true that administratively you have to make this decision when you are not winning but I don't think this year was a fair judgment with all of the injuries. What happens to all the pathetic defensive players (that give up 51 pts when a playoff game is on the line) and their $$million salaries--I'm mad at the players who didn't perform including Jay Cutler who runs his mouth too much.
I would respect this from Pat Bowlen if he was a respectable guy but he's not. I like that he wants to bring someone in to win a Superbowl but Shanahan has already done that...twice! You have to have the talent and we haven't since Elway has been gone. We've had 3 QB's who haven't gotten it done: Griese, Plummer and now Cutler and of course, the defense, every frickin' year!
Some other program will be lucky to have him and I can't imagine who could be better than him in this role. I mean, how many NFL coaches, Hall of Fame at that, have multiple championships?
I could not put this book down! Very good! A great analogy of our relationships with God!
Mackenzie Allen Philips' youngest daughter, Missy, has been abducted during a family vacation and evidence that she may have been brutally murdered is found in an abandoned shack deep in the Oregon wilderness. Four years later in the midst of his Great Sadness, Mack receives a suspicious note, apparently from God, inviting him back to that shack for a weekend. Against his better judgment he arrives at the shack on a wintry afternoon and walks back into his darkest nightmare. What he finds there will change Mack's world forever. In a world where religion seems to grow increasingly irrelevant "The Shack" wrestles with the timeless question, "Where is God in a world so filled with unspeakable pain?" The answers Mack gets will astound you and perhaps transform you as much as it did him.
I completed the 5K Turkey Trot today. Weather was perfect, met new people and they even announced my name as I crossed the finish line! The 1st place winner for my age category was 22min....my time: 52 min--ha--but I did finish!
Turkey Trot tradition continues with 5K race to benefit Kid-Self Pediatric Rehab Program, Heart Watchers
By Pamela Dickman Loveland Reporter-Herald
Seven years ago, Tim Jones and Pam Boudreau crossed the finish line first at Loveland’s first ever Turkey Trot race. Years, thousands of runners and even more dollars raised for children’s medical needs later, the Thanksgiving morning race is still growing. “It’s so amazing that 800 to 1,000 people come out on a cold, crisp morning when they could be sleeping in,” said Boudreau, who hasn’t missed a Loveland Turkey Trot yet. read more
I just wanted to say how fun it was to play golf today....in Nov...and yesterday too! However, today I shot a 51 which is the BEST I have played all summer!!!! I was driving around 200 yds and did not have a great short game but it was so fun to be out there this late in the year!
Also, went to Old Chicago's today for their World Tour. I actually don't really like anything but a couple CL's and that's plenty for me so I didn't try any of their drinks on their list but I did win a T-shirt from their raffle ticket. I gave it to Melissa because I know I won't wear a T-shirt with a beer name on it but it was fun to win!
I have never been more disappointed with my country than I am about this. How do we have such a lack of discernment? This man's entire campaign had no substance. Of course, I applaud our country for the strides black people have made-of course I do. However, this was not the right one to make history with! In addition, you don't hire someone because of their color no more than you refuse to hire someone because of their color. You hire the most qualified and it's been a slap in the face to McCain and all of his service to our country. We're in the middle of war and we hire someone who doesn't even acknowledge our flag. I hope our country enjoys the honeymoon because it's going to be short. This guy is a train wreck waiting to happen.
I told everyone today that I'm in mourning--for the next 4 yrs! This email sent to me is a great source of encouragement though:
Yes, it is the morning after. The responses to last night’s election results have been varied – everything from “I’m moving to Alaska” to “This too shall pass.” I wanted to share some of my thoughts with you as we enter a new season in the life of this country. Any of you that have known me for very long have heard me say, “God has always worked through the few and not the many; He has always had His faithful remnant.” Well, we are that remnant. You, as part of this remnant, have been on the frontlines of the cultural battles in your state and in this nation.
During Old Testament times, God’s people endlessly moved through the cycle of sin that we see especially in the book of Judges. But even during those cycles of sin, there was a faithful remnant who continued to seek God and to seek His good for their nation. Yet even though the remnant worked so hard, God eventually would judge His people. At one point in time that judgment included exiling His people from their land. But look carefully at the story of the exile in Babylon – there was a remnant. We see the faith of Daniel who refused to eat their food, bow to their gods, or forsake praying to his God. There was Nehemiah who weep for the city of Jerusalem and sought the favor of the king to go and rebuild the walls of the city. God has always worked through His remnant.
This is not a time for us to wring our hands and mourn our losses. It is time for us to be the remnant – to stand strong against the giants in our land. If you think about it when David defeated Goliath, his battle was not over – in reality it had just begun! When he went out to fight that giant, he knew that others lurked in the countryside (remember, he did not take five stones because he thought he would miss; he took five stones because Goliath had four brothers!). But even after the giants, David had many battles to fight. We have been confronting the giants for a long time; the giants somehow seem bigger today, but they are not. Our God is still bigger than all of the giants; our God is still sovereign over all of the affairs of man; our God will not leave us or forsake us. And best of all, our God has already defeated all of the giants! We must never lose sight of the FACT that the victory was won on the cross of Calvary; our Lord took position of the keys of death and hell, and we live in that victory.
So walk today with your head high knowing that you are a child of the King and that the victory has been won. Now it is up to us to continue to fight the battle. One of my favorite pictures of our Lord is the one found at the end of Joshua 5. Joshua has just brought the people into the land and was looking toward Jericho, “he lifted up his eyes and looked, and behold, a man was standing opposite him with His sword drawn in His hand, and Joshua went to and said to him, ‘Are you for us or for our adversaries?’ He said, ‘No; rather I indeed come now as captain of the host of the Lord.’ And Joshua fell on his face to the earth…” I love that picture of the warrior! He was there when Joshua needed Him, and He will be there for us as we continue to fight the giants in our land. Never forget that He is the Captain of the host of the Lord!
Let me close with the words of Psalm 3 written as David was fleeing from his son, Absalom: “O Lord, how my adversaries have increased! Many are rising up against me. Many are saying of my soul, ‘There is no deliverance for him in God.’ BUT YOU, O LORD, are a shield about me, My glory, and the One who lifts my head. I was crying to the Lord with my voice , And He answered me from His holy mountain. I lay down and slept; I awoke, for the Lord sustains me. I will not be afraid of ten thousands round about. Arise, O Lord; save me, O my God! For You have smitten all my enemies on the check; You have shattered the teeth of the wicked. Salvation belongs to the Lord; Your blessing be upon Your people!”
Thank you for being a part of the remnant! Thank you for your hard work! We move forward knowing that the Captain of the host of the Lord goes before us!

Loved this movie! A college level "Remember the Titans". I'm embarassed how our country has treated black people throughout the decades. Am proud to see the growth because of some of their pioneers (Rosa Parks, Martin Luther King, etc). What a great platform sports has been for these incredible athletes.
Rob Brown stars as Ernie Davis in "The Express," a drama based on the true story of the running back who smashed barriers on and off the field.
This evening Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, the Republican Party's vice presidential nominee, addressed the 2008 Republican National Convention. Here is the speech as prepared for delivery.
ST. PAUL, Minnesota (CNN) -- Gov. Palin:
Mr. Chairman, delegates, and fellow citizens: I am honored to be considered for the nomination for Vice President of the United States...
I accept the call to help our nominee for president to serve and defend America.
I accept the challenge of a tough fight in this election... against confident opponents ... at a crucial hour for our country.
And I accept the privilege of serving with a man who has come through much harder missions ... and met far graver challenges ... and knows how tough fights are won - the next president of the United States, John S. McCain. Remainder of speech
Me & Pribble went to the Broncos game tonight. Broncos defense still isn't that great and we can't seem to find a way to score in the redzone. We need to find a way though because I'm not feeling too confident about our kicking game. It's great that he can kick a 68-yd field goal in practice but makes me mad when he misses a 35-yd field goal during a game. He didn't miss tonight though and we had fun. Our seats were just below Elway's club seats but we didn't see him this time.

We WON a free CRUISE to the BAHAMAS (5 days, 4 nights)!!
I had invited Myndie to a conference today and they actually drew her name but because I invited her, she is taking me (I would have cried if she didn't)! We want to go for our 40th birthdays anyway so I'll have to let everyone know when we set a date so arrangements can be made. It's on Carnival and she has gone on several cruises so it's even better to go when people know the ropes. It can't be over any holidays but we we're thinking between Thanksgiving and Christmas--we will definitely be letting everyone know! I feel like I could jump right out of my skin!
Me, Myndie (KW Realtor), her daughter (Kayla) and her husband (Billy) got out on their boat at Boyd Lake today! It was SO fun! I can't really swim but wanted to get in the water so I didn't miss out on anything. I stayed close to the boat but maybe next time I can try to ski! We went out from about 11a-2p and then came back to the office and worked--it was great!
We (John, Tawni, Alex, Andrew and Cathy) went to the Rockies vs Padres game today and then Steven Curtis Chapman sang afterwards for Faith Day! Aside from the rain that shortened the concert and the Rockies getting spanked by the last place Padres...it was a great time!
Leon and I got on our bikes again today and drove about 90 miles to Allenspark which is just outside of Estes Park. We had lunch up there and stopped for a C-Light in Estes on the way home. The weather was perfect and it felt like a great accomplishment to actually ride through the Poudre Canyon on my little bike despite all the traffic. I think I'm a pro now!
I turned in my irons to Golf USA and they will sell them for me and I bought a 9-hybrid and a PW-hybrid and it helped shaved 13 strokes today so I am VERY happy with my score(which is unusual)!
This summer I have learned how to speed-read and it's awesome how I can move through these books and actually comprehend what I have read (now my goal is book/week). I dragged my feet on reading not because I don't like to read but because it takes so long to get through one book. I can now read a book within one hour by learning how to read vertically instead of horizontally. This book is awesome and Henry Blackaby is a strong Christian. I mean, this guy nails it every time. I also read his book 'Experiencing God' (actually we did a bible study on it in NM) and he is really good.
What I liked about this book is understanding the power that God used to raise Jesus is the same power that is in us as long as we are in relationship with Him. He does defend us, He does take care of us, and nothing and no one has a greater say in the events in our lives than Him. Not people, not jobs, not anything. I think it's awesome! Everything around us has the opportunity to drain us but staying focused on God and His plans for us is real joy. I've always said I have one life and it's gonna be good! Winners surround themselves with winners!
Experience the powerful reality of Christ’s resurrection in your life. Moment by moment, day by day.
Two thousand years ago, God raised Jesus Christ from the dead. But that isn’t a mere historical event. It isn’t simply a theological doctrine. It is rather a “huge moment” that reverberates powerfully and meaningfully throughout history. Even today. Even in your life.
When God raised Jesus, He also made it possible for Christ’s life to reign eternally in His followers. The resurrection is the foundation of your total freedom and complete victory in Christ. And so it is an event–an experience–that’s worthy of your daily celebration.
Experiencing the Resurrection is the second in a groundbreaking trilogy by the world-renowned spiritual leader Dr. Henry Blackaby and his son, Dr. Melvin Blackaby, that guides you into experiencing the gospel of Christ in its fullness. In this book they offer you a deeper understanding of the glorious, joyous dimensions of the resurrection, with the goal of revealing the living Lord at work in your daily life.
This is the first step to fully knowing and experiencing the peace, joy, power, purpose, and confidence that God promises you through the resurrection of His Son.
